I'm trying something new, kind of ... again

Before I started Shavestix in 2020, I spent my entire career as a writer and editor for newspapers, magazines and in corporate marketing. I often joked that it was the only thing I knew how to do.

That was until I had to teach myself how to create a product, package it, sell it, build a website, source ingredients and materials, produce it, scale it and ship it on pallets to far away warehouses. Then I had to learn how to create a mini-TV studio in my house (which takes a surprising amount of lighting) and pitch it on TV. And that was just the first year.

Since then, so many things have happened, including adding new retailers like Amazon, Grove Collaborative and dozens of independent retailers around the country. We've exhibited at a few shows including BITE NYC, which is run by Beauty Independent. That's how we connected with Grove Collaborative and where we met buyers from Ulta (a collaboration we're still working on!)

We've also been contacted by Shark Tank producers and got through a second round of auditions. More on that later.

I'm still a one-woman-show most of the time - so these things can take a while. And it's difficult to focus on the right pursuits - the ones that are truly in our best interest. 

AND ... I've posted four blog entries since this first one - but I was never able to take the time to figure out how to make them accessible!!! UGH. They're all here on our website, and I promise, the stories are worth reading. 

So ... yes, I can do more than write. But it seems fitting to tap into my old skills and share my stories about being an entrepreneur in real life - the people you meet, the wins and losses, the mistakes you learn from, and those little signs that remind you to keep going.
