Before I started Shavestix in 2020, I spent my entire career as a writer and editor for newspapers, magazines and in corporate marketing. I often joked that it was the only thing I knew how to do.
That was until I had to teach myself how to create a product, package it, sell it, build a website, source ingredients and materials, produce it, scale it and ship it on pallets to far away warehouses. Then I had to learn how to create a mini-TV studio in my house (which takes a surprising amount of lighting) and pitch it on TV. And that was just the first year.
Getting not one but FOUR mentions from a very successful influencer has made a huge impact on our business, and it's been one of my favorite business moments. It’s the kind of experience that every entrepreneur needs – where someone you admire basically lifts you up and says you’re on the right track. I need more Marnies!!!
I knew that my dear friend, sorority sister and woman who is successful at everything, Sue Persichetti, would tell me if Shavestix was a good idea, or coco-NUTS. I knew that if she liked it, it would be worth a try. If she didn't - she's let me now ... in the nicest way possible.
START WHERE YOU ARE.
USE WHAT YOU HAVE.
DO WHAT YOU CAN.
I’ve had to figure out and teach myself every single thing we have done for this business over the last (almost) four years. It’s been a wild ride and a rewarding journey.
